Our Mission
From the heart of Western Styria, a region rich with Celtic history, we take our name, Adiant, from a Proto-Celtic word for "desire." It is this desire that fuels our music and our message—a desire for a world that embraces tolerance, diversity, and acceptance for all.
Our art is a stand against injustice. We are a female-fronted Melodic Metal band, and we believe that our genre, often underrepresented in mainstream discussions of social issues, has a powerful voice. The metal scene is one of passion and community, and we are committed to showing that it stands firmly for these crucial values.
This mission is crystallised in our concept album, Witches Dance.
The Parable of "Witches Dance"
Independently released on 27 September 2024 ,
Witches Dance uses the historical persecution of witches as a powerful metaphor for the modern-day oppression of minorities and marginalised individuals. The album is a narrative journey that follows a central character, a witch, as she endures a path of suffering and comes to understand society's prejudice against her.
The story unfolds song by song:
The narrative begins with the witch being torn from her sanctuary, her "Hiding Place".
She experiences treachery in "The Betrayal" and confronts society's prejudice in "Forsaken".
The album also explores the perspective of the oppressors. "Heresy" is presented as a hymn from the clergy against all they deem heretical. This condemnation culminates in "Inquisition," a track whose musical theme is adapted from Franz Liszt's Spanish Rhapsody.
The witch's journey on earth concludes with her burning in "The Cleansing". This is followed by "L'Inferno," a poignant piano solo that depicts her path through the abyss, symbolising that she has found a better place.
Musically, most songs are structured as a dialogue. The clean vocals represent the afflicted individual, while the growling and screaming embody the voice of society and the clergy. This creates a stark, dynamic contrast that underscores the album's central conflict.
While rooted in a historical metaphor, the album's message is deeply connected to the present. Songs like "Lighthearted," which focuses on self-acceptance, and "Psychosis" translate these themes into a modern context. The character of the witch serves as a symbol for any person or group that has been marginalised and oppressed by society—the "clergy"—simply for being different.
Music into Action: Our Charity Projects
Our commitment extends beyond our music. We believe in taking tangible action to support our community. This led us to create Rock im Sägewerk, our own concert series dedicated to a cause very close to our hearts.
The live debut of Witches Dance took place at Rock im Sägewerk '24. The entire series is a charity project to support Herzkinder Österreich, an organisation dedicated to helping children with heart disease and their families.
In December ‘25 we will organise our next charity concert Heavy X-Mas at Laßnitzhaus in Deutschlandsberg.
Through our music and our actions, we strive to create a space for contrast, dialogue, and artistic diversity. We aim to use the power of Melodic Metal to not only tell compelling stories but also to champion the cause of the voiceless and make a real-world impact.
If you have something extra to spare, we have provided you links for very important organisations in Austria.
Thank you and see you soon at one of our next shows! ❤️
